Is now the time to buy?

If you think a full blown recession is just around the corner then it’s time to batton down the hatches and hoard all your money in cash, or some other safe haven. If on the other hand you accept that there is a downturn, a correction or bear market that is likely to get worse but won’t last too long, then now could be a great time to buy. (more…)

Buffett lunch

Investors in Berkshire Hathaway travel from all across America and beyond to listen to Warren Buffett was lyrical at the AGM about the company’s investment performance and state of the economy. SO what price would someone pay for lunch with the ‘Sage of Omaha’? A Chinese businessman has paid $2.1m for that very privilege, after winning the lunch in an auction on EBay. Whilst we’d all welcome some sound investment advice in these turbulent times, he’ll have to make some very healthy returns to cover the cost of these words of wisdom.

The cost of investing increases

Fund managers have slowly been increasing the management fees they charge to look after your investments. In addition to the Annual Management Charge (AMC) which may be as high as 1.75% per annum, they are also ‘top-slicing’ your investment fund. (more…)
